Market Update

Home-price increases continued to decelerate in May in Portland and major cities across the country.

Prices across 20 major U.S. metros surveyed were up 1.1 percent in May, according to the Standard & Poor's / Case-Shiller home price index, a closely watched measure of economic health.

In the Portland area, one of the metros included in the survey, home prices were up 1.2 percent in May and 10 percent from a year ago. It was among 18 of the 20 cities surveyed that showed a slowdown from April's year-over-year change.
