Case-Shiller: Home Prices Rise, but Gains are Losing Steam

The rapid home-price gains that were seen through much of last year are cooling off in the Portland area and other major metro areas across the U.S.

In Portland, prices were up 1.6 percent in April and 11.1 percent from a year ago.

The year-over-year increases in home prices have been losing momentum since December's numbers, reported in February.

Nineteen of the 20 metro areas, including Portland, showed their gains were slowing in April compared to the previous month's reading.
